Purpose of the Course
Assessment Practitioner
The purpose of the Assessment Practitioner course is to prepare learners to competently plan, conduct, and manage outcomes-based assessments in accordance with national quality assurance requirements and occupational standards.
The course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to assess learner competence fairly, validly, reliably, and consistently across a range of learning contexts. Learners will be able to apply assessment principles, develop assessment instruments, conduct assessments, provide constructive feedback, and make assessment decisions aligned to registered qualifications and part-qualifications.
On successful completion, learners will be able to:

Rationale of the Course
Quality assessment is central to the credibility and integrity of South Africa’s education and training system. Poor assessment practices undermine learner confidence, employer trust, and national skills development objectives. There is therefore a critical need for qualified assessment practitioners who understand both the technical and ethical requirements of outcomes-based assessment.
